Agriculture consists of more than simply "plants." That is a common misconception. Agricultural curriculum is the study of cultivating land, crops and livestock. Apart from the career options, it is important that agriculture is taught in the formative years of schooling. Knowledge of how things work in our modern era of commerce, why we need these careers to continue to function and what it takes to make civilization happen may be retained for a lifetime. In fact, that knowledge will also create an awareness and perhaps even promote an eco-sensitive conscience.
