4/3 and 4/5/12 ongoing- Tae Kwon Do-- Come and join teacher Angela Tompach and her students for Tae Kwon Do in the CES gym from 6:30-7:30p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday, every month. All ages and abilities are welcome, family and group rates available. Join us on April 14 for Friends and Family Night to join the class, and for treats. 4/3/12-SHARE order day, 4/21/12 SHARE pick-up day (Senior Citizens’ Center.) SHARE is the Self-Help and Resource Exchange food program.  Receive a box of tasty food at a reduced rate in exchange for volunteering an hour in the community. 4/5/12 Understanding Supplements—Please join Columbus Community Hospital Registered Dietician Jenny Ludwig as she dissects the pros and cons of including supplements in your diet.. A minimum of four registrants is required to hold the program.  Meets at Columbus Public Library from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required. Please call the Columbus Community Hospital Education Department at (920) 623-1276 to register.

 

4/11/12 – Flow Yoga— Join instructor Tammy Gunderson for Flow Yoga.  Flow Yoga is a relaxing yet challenging blend of Hatha Yoga poses designed to improve concentration, strength, flexibility, and balance.  The class is appropriate for beginner to intermediate participants.  Please bring a yoga mat,  water, and a towel.  If you have blocks and straps, feel free to bring them.  Class meets on Wednesday evenings at 6:45 p.m. 4/11-5/16/12 in the Columbus Middle School IMC.  Cost is $30 for the session, or $7 to drop in.  To register, contact Katy at (920) 623-5954 ext. 3923.

 

4/17/12 AARP Safe Driver’s Safety Class—The nationally acclaimed AARP Driver Safety program will be presented at the Columbus Community Hospital, 1515 Park Ave. on Tuesday, April 17th from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The participant workbook, lecture and videos make for a fast paced presentation.  Some auto insurance companies offer a premium discount on auto insurance policies of clients taking the Driver Safety Program.   The cost is $12 for AARP members, $14 for non-members. Participants can pay by check on the day of class.   Enrollment is limited to 25, lunch will be provided.  Pre-registration is required.  To register or for more information, contact Chris DeLapp at (920) 623-1276.

 

4/26/12 Women’s Self Defense— Join Certified and 8th Degree Blackbelt Dick Thompson as he educates and instructs women on how to defend themselves. This class will involve physical activity. You will learn how to escape and gain separation from an attacker.  Moms and Daughters encouraged to attend— this program is for ladies only.  Please RSVP by calling the Columbus Community Hospital Education Department at 920-623-1276.

4/7/12 Columbus Recreation Easter Egg Hunt 2012—Join City Recreation on April 7th  from 11am-2pm at Fireman’s Park Pavilion. There will plenty of activities for youth ages 0-12. Free activities include: visit from the Easter Bunny, games with prizes, and coloring. Activities will take place from 11am-1:00pm. Egg Hunt will begin promptly at 1:00 pm. 4/8/12-4/14/12—National Library Week! Celebrate National Library Week with Columbus Public Library! Coloring sheets are available at the library. Color your coloring sheet showing a scene from your favorite book and bring it to the library by April 14th to receive a coupon for a FREE Culver’s Ice Cream and a chance to be entered to win a grand prize from Culvers! 4/12/12 Bookworms Book Club- “Holes”—by Louis Sachar.  Nine-12 year olds are encouraged to come and discuss the book “Holes”, the tale of Stanley Yelnats who’s unjustly sent to a boy’s detention center and enters into the adventure of a lifetime!  Meets from 4:00-5:00 p.m. at Columbus Public Library.  Registration is required. 4/16/12  Monday Madness- Life Size Monopoly Roll the dice, and YOU walk the board! 4/17/12 The Incredible 1-2-3 Magic Years!  Parenting is a tough job—come and learn the basics of two effective parenting programs, along with some other skills to make parenting your young (Preschool to grade 2) child easier.  This FREE program meets from 6:30-8:00 p.m. on 4/17, 4/24 and May 1st  at Columbus Middle School.  For more information or to sign up, contact Katy at (920) 623-5954 ext. 3923

 

4/26/12 Did You Know Dogs Love to Read?--  Children in 1st through 6th grades are invited to SIGN-UP to practice their reading skills with a special R.E.A.D. dog on April 26th  from 4:00-6:00 p.m. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED! Family Fun Packs! Community Learning Services is offering these fun packs for families to rent.  Pick the Field Pack for Wiffle ball and kickball supplies, choose three of the CLS board games for the Rainy Day Pack, or choose three items for the Lawn Games pack, including Ladderball, Bocce, Bean Bag Toss, Horseshoes, Croquet and Volleyball/Badminton. More packs available all the time—let us know if there’s something you’re looking for! Fun Packs are rented out for three days for $10 with a $5.00 deposit. You must be 18 or over to reserve a Fun Pack. To reserve your pack, call Katy or Chris at (920) 623-5954 ext. 3923.  Pick up is at Columbus Middle School.

 

Fitness Room Open!—Students in grades 4-8 residing in Columbus are encouraged to come and use the CMS Fitness Room after school. Kids can come in after school to work out, get healthy and get fit! There’s cardio equipment, weights, and healthy activities all in a safe, supervised environment. Parent Waivers must be signed before students may participate.  Open from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday on regular school days.  For more information, contact Katy Kraemer at (920) 623-5954 ext. 3923 or Christopher Salzwedel at (920) 623-5954 ext. 3186.

 

Every day—Community Learning Services’ Afterschool  Program is offered to students in 4th through 8th grade afterschool.  Students can get help with homework, read, study and use the computer lab in a safe and supervised environment.  The computer lab is open daily from 3:16-5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.  The IMC is open from 3:16-6:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and Fridays until 5:30 p.m.
