When the phone system answers your call, you may say the school you want to reach immediately.
Example: If you want to report your child absent at the Columbus High School, you can say “Attendance” (or press 1) about three seconds after the voicemail system starts. Then say “High School”. You can leave a message at that point. “This is John Doe. My daughter, Jane Doe, is ill today.”
The phone system has been programmed to respond to:
-
Attendance (1)
-
District (2)
-
High School (3)
-
Middle School (4)
-
Elementary School (5)
-
Charter (6)
You may also say the person’s full name to reach a particular person. If you know the person’s extension number, you can dial that also.
During normal school hours, “0” for operator is available. If you press “0”, you will be forwarded to the District Office. This may take extra time for your phone call. So, if you know that you want to speak to someone at the high school, please say “High School.”
