A Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) is designed to provide both employees and emergency personnel with the proper procedures for handling or working with a particular substance.
The MSDS has eight sections.

Identify |
The chemical name, trade name, and manufacturer's name, address, and emergency phone number. |

2 |
Hazardous Ingredients |
Hazardous ingredients used in the product. |

3 |
Physical & Chemical Characteristics |
Boiling/Melting Point, vapor pressure & density, water solubility, and appearance/odor. |

4 |
Fire Data |
Flash point, flammable limits, extinguishing media, unusual fire/explosion hazards, and any special fire fighting equipment. |

5 |
Health Data |
Routes of entry (inhalation, ingestion, etc.), effects from short and long term exposure, emergency and first aid procedures. |

6 |
Reactivity Data |
Stability, incompatible materials, hazardous decomposition. |

7 |
Spill or Leak Procedures |
Clean-up procedures, waste disposal, and precautions needed when handling/storing. |

8 |
Spill Pre-Caution Information |
Personal Protective equipment (PPE), ventilation, and work/hygiene practices. |
