The Columbus School District Student Services department works to support the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs of all students. As a district, we support the rights of all individuals to be educated to the extent appropriate in the general education setting, and attempt to be as inclusive as possible in serving students with disabilities.
Each student is an individual, so the appropriate amounts and types of services must be developed to promote that particular student's academic, social, and personal growth. This is a fine balance. If too few services are provided, students become frustrated; too many, and students do not learn to work through challenges and develop independence. Parents, professionals, and students work together as a team to determine the mix of instruction, services, accommodations, and modifications, supports and independence to be develop each child's potential.
As a smaller School District, Columbus offers a unique blend of personal attention and innovative programs to meet student needs. The Special Education Office is located at 200 West School Street, Columbus, Wisconsin, 53925.
